Join Westchester Jewish Coalition for Immigration - WJCI alongside our partners Shames JCC on the Hudson, HIAS, UJA-Federation of New York, Hillel of Westchester, Westchester Jewish Community Services, Upwardly Global, and Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center for an immersive, engaging event to learn about the refugee experience through stories and culture on Sunday, June 12th from 3-5 pm at Shames JCC on the Hudson in Tarrytown.
On this year's World Refugee Day, as forced displacement hits a record-breaking high, we will celebrate resilience and support resettled families in our community. Our storytellers will tell personal refugee stories from various parts of the world, including Afghanistan, Austria, Georgia, Poland, the Southern Border, Syria, Turkey, and Ukraine.
This event is suited for all ages and will feature storytelling, education and advocacy booths, live music and beautiful crafts, and delicious international food for sale. It will take place outside. Attendees ages 12+ needing access to the JCC facility will be required to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination. In inclement weather, the event will move inside the JCC Gymnasium.
