A Freezing New Year's Eve: Weather Report

Be prepared to be chilly in Larchmont and Mamaroneck.

It is possible that January will be, on the whole, warmer than average, forecasters say.

But it won’t start off that way. Be prepared — though tomorrow and Thursday will be in the upper 40s, temps are expected to drop Thursday evening into the low to mid 30s in Westchester County, and stay cold through the weekend.

“Colder air will expand and settle in across the central and eastern United States during the last hours of 2015 and first several days of January 2016,” says Alex Sosnowski, AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist. And he adds a warning: “For some people the upcoming weather may seem harsh in retrospect of how warm the past couple of months have been.”

One high note for the weekend forecast: fewer clouds.
