Hampshire Country Club Names Well-Seasoned New Executive Chef

The new head chef comes to the Mamaroneck club after a nearly two-decade-long tenure at the New York Athletic Club.

MAMARONECK, NY — Hampshire Country Club has named a new executive chef with an impressive pedigree.

Chef Andrew Ladd comes to the Mamaroneck club from the New York Athletic Club, where he was the Executive Chef for nearly two decades. At his prior position, he introduced a popular series of cooking classes for members only.

Ladd said he first encountered Hampshire during the “Part of the Solution” 2019 charity fundraiser hosted by Hampshire. The event led to a mutual respect between Ladd and Hampshire Assistant General Manager Dorothy Mourouzis. That relationship grew to be a contributing factor to his hiring as Executive Chef at the club.

“Hampshire’s reputation and standards represent a major opportunity for everyone, and I have suitably big plans,” Ladd said. “I have already begun to update the á la carte menu as an introductory project, expanding it and introducing some new and unique touches. We will be previewing some of these new dishes at a ‘Meet the Chef’ event coming soon.”

In addition to more than 25 years of fine dining culinary experience, Ladd’s impressive resume includes a 2009 Gold Medal Chef of the Year award from the Chefs de Cuisine Association of America. In 2018, BoardRoom Magazine honored him with their “Distinguished Achievement” award.

For Hampshire General Manager David Smith, however, Ladd’s talents are best judged by the food he lovingly prepares.

“Chef Ladd’s arrival at Hampshire promises a very exciting culinary era to come for our members,” Smith said announcing the new leader in the kitchens. “An expert of his caliber and experience will bring the highest level of artistry and elegance to the Hampshire dining experience.”
