Hampshire Country Club has a history of helping the community, according to a spokesman.
Every summer it opens its doors to Camp Ronald McDonald House of N.Y. and is host to the Harvest Dine Around to benefit Part of the Solution. Helping low-income families and individuals since 1982, Part of the Solution has grown to become a leading provider of emergency food, social services and legal representation. This year, the event was hosted virtually due to the pandemic.
The club has also started a coat drive for Part of the Solution to help keep those in need a little warmer during the holiday season.
“The effects of the pandemic have created unprecedented need in our communities," Mayer said. "It is heartening to see Hampshire Country Club and other institutions go above and beyond to help during this terribly difficult time.”
Dan Pfeffer, one of the club's owners, said the club was honored to receive the recognition.
“It is so rewarding to see how everyone has come together — our members, the community and the chamber — to ultimately help others during these challenging times,” he said.
The ceremony was held outdoors at the Hampshire Country Club. This award is a part of Senator Shelley Mayer’s efforts to recognize institutions in our communities who stepped up to help during this unprecedented time.
