Michael Shaver a ranger from Governors Island National Monument will speak about its history. Michael Shaver will talk about the history of Governors Island, its unique location in New York Harbor, its idyllic presence amidst the hubbub or New York City, and the centuries-old fortifications that comprise the long time military installation that was for many years invisible in plain sight. You will "visit" this most unique island through numerous photographs and descriptions.
