Hommocks MS Principal Retiring At End Of Year

She said she was leaving to pursue a position in elementary administration.

MAMARONECK, NY — Hommocks Middle School Principal Emily Macias-Capellan will be retiring at the end of the 2019-20 school. She is going to pursue a position in elementary administration, according to an email from Superintendent Robert I. Shaps.

Macias-Capellan was asked several years ago to leave her position as assistant principal at Chatsworth Avenue School to become assistant principal at Hommocks and then principal.

In a letter sent to parents Thursday, Macias-Capellan said her time at Hommocks has been rewarding.

"I look forward to our continued partnership and to continuing to work with out existing leadership team, our staff and the PTA during the remaining school year to ensure that we continue the important work and initiatives that are already underway," she said.

Shaps said he will report on the search process as it is undertaken and thanks her for her service and dedication.
