Interim Assistant Principal Chosen For Murray Avenue School

Since 2014, he has been a full-time classroom teacher at Mamaroneck Avenue School.

MAMARONECK, NY — An interim assistant principal was appointed for Murray Avenue School in Mamaroneck. Matt Porricelli was named interim assistant principal beginning July 1. He replaces Colleen Melnyk who will move into the principal position.

The announcement was made by Assistant Superintendent for Administration and Personnel Carol Priore at Tuesday's board of education meeting.

Porricelli joined the district in 2009 as a building substitute and then accepted several leave replacement positions. Since 2014, he has been a full-time classroom teacher at Mamaroneck Avenue School, teaching both third and fourth grades.

"I feel privileged to be able to continue to work in the district that I love and serve as interim assistant principal at Murray Avenue School," Porricelli said.

"I look forward to meeting all of the families at Murray, some of which I have already had the pleasure of knowing," he said.

In announcing the appointment, Priore said that Porricelli was a creative and talented teacher who will bring his instructional knowledge and enthusiasm for teaching to the position of assistant principal.
