Interim Principal Picked For Mamaroneck Avenue School
The board accepted the resignation of Principal Ginny Lockwood at a recent meeting.

MAMARONECK, NY — The Mamaroneck school district board of education accepted the resignation of Mamaroneck Avenue School Principal Ginny Lockwood at a recent board work session. She served in the position for two years.
Her resignation will be effective June 30, 2018.
At the recommendation of Superintendent Dr. Robert I. Shaps, the board appointed MAS Assistant Principal Neill Alleva as interim principal for the 2018-19 school year.

Shaps thanked Lockwood for her service and dedication.
“During her time as principal, Ms. Lockwood, a staunch advocate for children, has worked hard to build a caring learning environment for students and has sought to make MAS an exciting place to be,” he said.

Alleva came to Mamaroneck with 15 years of kindergarten through fifth grade teaching experience in the New York City public schools, including serving as an English language arts teacher and many years as a science teacher.
“In his short tenure so far as MAS, Mr. Alleva has proven to be a thoughtful, capable leader,” Shaps said.
“I am confident he will carry on the inclusive culture and distinguishing strengths of the MAS community and help lead MAS to new heights,” he said.
Alleva received his undergraduate degree from Temple University and received graduate degrees from St. John’s University and the College of St. Rose.
He is in the process of also completing his doctoral degree in education, with a concentration in organizational leadership, from Northeastern University.
