'Larchmont 125' Plans Kickoff Event Jan. 22

A group of volunteers is planning a year-long celebration of Larchmont's incorporation.

Organizers of Larchmont 125, a year-long celebration of the 125th anniversary of the incorporation of the Village of Larchmont, will host a kickoff event Jan. 22 in Village Hall.

Mayor Anne McAndrews, Celebrate Larchmont, Inc. Directors, and Larchmont 125 Celebration Committee will be on hand at the 11 a.m. gathering in the facility’s Court Room. Mingling throughout the crowd will be “Larchmonters from the past, dressed in 1890s clothing.”

The year-long celebration will be mounted by an all-volunteer committee, which is planning “exciting public events and educational programs that will appeal to all age groups.”

Below is additional background about the initiative from organizers:

About Larchmont 125: On September 22, 1891, the Larchmont Manor Company was dissolved and the community was officially incorporated as the Village of Larchmont. To mark this momentous occasion, the Village of Larchmont Board of Trustees established a quasquicentennial celebration coordination committee, “Larchmont 125,” comprised of Larchmont area residents with ties to the local business, historical, educational, and cultural communities. The committee will plan, promote, and produce signature events which will be paid for by the nonprofit “Celebrate Larchmont, Inc.” through fundraising activities, sponsorships, donations, concessions, and commemorative merchandise sales.
