Larchmont Business Owners to Receive Invoice for Palmer Avenue Streetscape
The Larchmont Board of Trustees announced that Larchmont property owners will be billed for their portion of sidewalk and curb improvements.

Larchmont business owners will soon be receiving a bill for their portion of the Palmer Avenue Streetscape project.
Several months ago, village officials looked at a proposal to have approximately 60 business owners share in the $320K cost for new sidewalks and curbing. Village law mandates that adjacent property owners are responsible for the cost of these improvements.

"They are tax-deductible to the property owners and this helps us bear the cost and it's also a considerable improvement to the property," said Mayor Anne McAndrews.
Every property owner along Palmer, Chatsworth and Larchmont Avenues in the village's business district will receive a notice with the cost of the improvements and square footage covered. So far, the cost for a sidewalk is $8 per square foot; a brick apron on Palmer Avenue is $11.06/sq. ft.; paver strips are $11.55/sq. ft. and curbs are $35.86 per linear foot.

If a property owner disagrees with the notice or requires further explanation, they will have an opportunity to meet with the village treasurer. Payments can be spread out over a 15-year period, as they were in a similar improvement project on Boston Post Road in 2004-05 that the Palmer Avenue Streetscape is based on.
The Palmer Avenue Streetscape project will cover areas between East and West Avenues near Palmer Avenue, continue to Ann Taylor, Pink on Palmer and then across Palmer toward Harry’s Burritos. In addition to new sidewalks and curbs, the project will add new trees, light posts and lumineers to the district.
