Larchmont, Mamaroneck Residents Start Recycling Food Waste

Take advantage of the new program, help lower the amount of discarded food in landfills and incinerators.

MAMARONECK, NY — The Larchmont-Mamaroneck Joint Garbage Disposal Commission has launched its Food Waste Recycling Program.

If you're a resident of Larchmont or the unincorporated part of the town of Mamaroneck, you may collect food waste for recycling into compost and drop it off at a central collection point.

Hours at the Maxwell Avenue Sanitation Center at 41 Maxwell Ave. in Larchmont are Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, 8am - 3pm; Tuesdays, 8am – 2pm and Saturdays, 8am – 11:45am.

Food waste recycling "starter kits" are available at the Maxwell Avenue site and also at Larchmont Village Hall and Mamaroneck Town Center from 8:30am - 4:30pm. The drop-off site is up the hill close to the office – look for the large signage saying “Food Waste Drop-off Site.
