Larchmont's Swim Across America Event Raised Over $1 Million for Cancer
Close to 500 swimmers came out to support a great cause.
Jeannette Boccini, volunteer with Larchmont’s Swim Across America, said their Long Island Sound Open-Water swim was “a huge success last Saturday.” There were 423 swimmers, many kayakers and lots of volunteers all pitching in to make the day a success.
So far, there have been eight swimming events, and the total raised for cancer research, prevention and treatment is $1,150,000 to date. There is one more swim event this weekend at the Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester which will add to this number.

A pool swim with proceeds to go to the same beneficiaries is scheduled for Saturday, August 4 at the Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester, starting at 6 a.m. Swimmers may swim a mile, a half-mile mile or as part of a relay team. All swimmers will receive a T-shirt and a towel, and possibly other promotional items. To qualify for participation, a donations is required. Special reduced rates apply for high school students.
