Larry Keane Returns as Interim Assistant Principal at Hommocks
Keane takes over for Edgar McIntosh, who will become principal at Ardsley Middle School.
The Board of Education has approved the appointment of Larry Keane to the position of interim assistant principal at Hommocks Middle School, the Mamaroneck Union Free School District announced in a statement today.
Keane will be taking the spot of Edgar McIntosh, who will become principal at Ardsley Middle School. For more than a decade, Keane served as Hommocks' assistant principal, retiring in 2009, according to the statement.
Keane will earn a base salary of $146,512, compared to McIntosh's base salary of $134,482.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Shaps explained that the district was unable to find an administrator qualified for the position this summer. The search for a permanent replacement will begin in later October or early November.

"[Larry] has agreed to take on this short-term position for an indefinite time - most likely three or four months - until we are able to find the right person," said Shaps in the statement. "Larry is familiar with the school, the students and the roles and responsibilities, and he has worked closely for years with Dr. Weitzman and Dr. Mazzone."
Dr. Seth Weitzman is the principal at Hommocks. Marie Nora Mazzone is the assistant principal.
Keane was a science teacher at Hommocks for 28 years and chaired the school's science department before taking on the assistant principal role, the district said.
