Mamaroneck Announces Plans For 9/11 20th Anniversary Ceremony

The Town of Mamaroneck, along with the villages of Larchmont and Mamaroneck announced special plans to honor those who sacrificed.

MAMARONECK, NY — Mamaroneck Town, along with its neighboring municipalities will host a special 20th Anniversary 9/11 memorial ceremony.

The Town of Mamaroneck, along with the Village of Mamaroneck and the Village of Larchmont, announced plans to hold the annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on September 11, at 5 p.m.

The ceremony will be held at “Girl Scout Rock” in Memorial Park on Myrtle Boulevard. The event marking two decades since the terror attacks of September 11, is being touted as "an opportunity for the community to gather together in a cooperative spirit of support and remembrance."

Participants will include members of the Fire and Police Departments of the Town of Mamaroneck and Villages of Mamaroneck and Larchmont, the Mamaroneck EMS and Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corp, Veterans, members of the Clergy, local Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops and public officials.

All in the community are welcome to attend.

Each year on September 11, the Town of Mamaroneck hosts the tri-municipal memorial ceremony for the communities of the Town of Mamaroneck, Village of Larchmont and Village of Mamaroneck at Girl Scout Rock. The Girl Scouts created the September 11th Memorial which lists the names of those Larchmont-Mamaroneck community members who were lost on that day.

The event has been hosted in Memorial Park each year since 2002.
