Mamaroneck Barnstone Grill, LM Lions Raise Over $1K For STEM Summer Program

MAMARONECK, NY — A critical summer program is sizzling thanks to a delicious collaboration.

A partnership between the Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions and Barnstone Grill raised more than $1,000 for The STEM Alliance’s Co-Op Summer Enrichment program in Mamaroneck. Barnstone Grill’s “Dine to Donate” effort dedicated Mondays in May to the fundraiser and brought in $615. Combined with support from the Lions, the total topped $1,000 for the summer program.

Barnstone Grill sets aside a full month of Mondays throughout the year to support local charities and service groups. For May, the restaurant chose The STEM Alliance’s Co-Op Summer Enrichment program. The program is part of the Mamaroneck School District and is led by The STEM Alliance.

The Co-Op Summer Enrichment as a five-week program offers academic and recreational experiences for more than 300 students from all Mamaroneck district schools. It also employs local teens and college students. The program predominantly serves families with financial need and is intended to provide access to learning opportunities and summer activities.

That support is particularly important in addressing the “Summer Slide,” a term used for the decline in academic skills and knowledge during summer break.The fundraising effort adds local backing for a program that combines academics with recreation during the summer months.

Barnstone Grill owner Bill Jablonski is a longtime supporter of community groups. He has donated thousands of dollars in support of local community organizations. The Lions often work with him on causes the club supports.
