Mamaroneck Celebrates Clean and Green Day April 25

Show your love for Mamaroneck parks and volunteer at the annual Clean and Green Day, Saturday, April 25 at Harbor Island Park.

Volunteers of all ages are invited to show their love for Village of Mamaroneck parks at the Annual Clean & Green Day, Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. All neighborhood groups, troops and teams will be provided with tools, clean-up bags, and gloves. Volunteers can choose their own site or select from a list of neighborhood parks and waterways that would benefit from attention.

This year’s Clean & Green Day has been expanded to include additional activities, including a nature walk, a tour of the sewage plant, and a composting workshop organized by Sheldrake Environmental Center. For the first time in the Village, participants will be able to sign up for a plot at the new Village Community Garden. Tours of the Marine Education Center and schooner SoundWaters will also be available.

Refreshments will be provided by local merchants and attendees can also receive information about various local and regional environmental initiatives, from how to cultivate native plants and green lawns without using pesticides to details on the Solarize Larchmont-Mamaroneck program. Finally, all volunteer clean-up groups will be included in a drawing for prizes, which will include gift certificates from Boitano’s Bakery, Garden Catering and Shop and Stop among others.
