Mamaroneck Named Tree City USA For 25th Year

Veterans will be honored at a tree planting Friday.

MAMARONECK, NY — For the 25th year, the Town of Mamaroneck has been named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of the town’s commitment to effective urban forest management. There were four requirements for inclusion that Mamaroneck met: having a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

Supervisor Nancy Seligson said she was happy to celebrate 25 years of Arbor Day Foundation recognition for the town.

“Being a ‘Tree City USA’ once again fits into the overall goal of making the town more sustainable, resilient and improving our quality of life,” she said.
