Police have a few suggestions that resident can do to thwart break-ins.
MAMARONECK, NY — The number of vehicles being broken into in Mamaroneck village neighborhoods have increased recently. Village police officers are on heightened awareness, officials said.
They are on the lookout for any suspicious activity.
There are a few things that residents can do to help:

- Park your car in a well-lit area
- Make sure your vehicle is locked
- Make sure your vehicle alarm is activated
- Make sure the key/key fob is not left in the car
- Do not leave any personal or valuable belongings in plain view
