Mamaroneck Resident Killed In Upstate Accident
The 18-year-old was a first-year student at SUNY Cobleskill.

MAMARONECK, NY — A Mamaroneck resident, attending SUNY Cobleskill, was killed Saturday morning in a accident in the Town of Maryland, Ostego County. Douglas Alvarez, 18, was ejected from the car when it rolled over several times on I-88.
He was taken to Albany Medical Center where he died, lohud.com said.
State Police said the car with six occupants was traveling east near Exit 18 around 4 a.m., when it left the roadway, entered the center median, rolled over several times, at which point Alvarez was ejected.

The car then came to rest in the westbound lane, where it was struck by another car.

The five other occupants of the vehicle were taken to Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
Police said alcohol was not a contributing factor to the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
A post on the SUNY Cobleskill website said Alvarez was a first-year business administration student.
Support and counseling will be available on campus Sunday at 7 p.m.
