Mamaroneck, Rye Neck Voters Decide 2017-18 School Budgets

One of the districts has a contested board race.

MAMARONECK, NY — Voters in the Mamaroneck and Rye Neck school districts will go to the polls Tuesday to decide whether to approve budgets for the 2017-18 school year. The budget package for the Mamaroneck Union Free School District is $135,103,791, up 1.46 percent from the current year’s spending plan.

The proposed tax levy increase is 2.25 percent more than 2016-17’s, which is over state-mandated tax cap.

That means 60 percent of the votes must approve of the budget for it to pass.

The polls on Tuesday will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in your local elementary school.

The budget package for the Rye Neck Union Free School District is $40,120,000, down 0.58 percent from the current year’s spending plan.
