Mamaroneck School Board Appoints New Assistant Principal For High School

The Board of Education appointed a new assistant high school principal to replace Gail Kleiner, who will be retiring this year.

 

The Mamaroneck Board of Education approved Dr. Michael-Joseph Mercanti-Anthony as the new Assistant Principal at Mamaroneck High School (MHS), effective July 1.

Mercanti-Anthony will replace Gail Kleiner, who will retire at the end of the year. He graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in American History and English and University of Pennsylvania with a Ed.D in Educational Leadership, according to a district press release. He worked for nine years at Lindenwald High School in NJ and was both a Social Studies and World Language Supervisor.

Currently an achievement coach in New York City, Mercanti-Anthony works with a network of principals to improve instruction in the schools.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Mamaroneck community and very much look forward to working with Ms. [Elizabeth] Clain and the faculty and staff of MHS to support the academic growth of our students. Throughout the interview process I was continually impressed by the talent, diversity, and spirit of innovation which characterizes the staff and students of MHS. I’m honored to be a part of the team," he said in the release.

"The committee feels confident that Michael will bring a wealth of knowledge and a keen intellect that will help us to continue to improve our high school," said Principal Elizabeth Clain.
