Mamaroneck School Officials to Hear Findings of School-Based Health Centers Study

The meeting is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2015.

Mamaroneck School District officials will meet Jan. 12 to go over the preliminary findings by a task force concerning the feasibility of school-based health centers in some buildings, the district announced Friday.

The task force began its work in the fall, and following the Jan. 12 presentation, the Board of Education will consider next steps during another meeting later in the month.

Mamaroneck is studying the feasibility of school-based health centers to provide no-cost services to children, particularly at the elementary school level.

Please join us as the SBHC Task Force (a subcommittee of the District Wellness Committee) presents what they have learned so far about School-Based Health Centers. The informational portion of the meeting will be followed by a time for questions, which will be answered or noted for further study. The work of the Task Force, including questions and comments raised on January 12, will be incorporated into the Subcommittee’s report to the Board of Education.

On January 20, 2015, following the Subcommittee’s report, the Board of Education will discuss possible next steps in the ongoing evaluation of the need, challenges and benefits of a SBHC in any of our schools. It is important to note that given the amount of work yet to do, no decisions have been made at this time and the Task Force will not be giving a recommendation.
