Mamaroneck School System Offers Tips on Receiving District News

The following welcome letter to the community is from the Mamaroneck Union Free School District:

Welcome back to school from the MUFSD Communications Department!

We wanted to take this opportunity to make sure you are aware of the numerous ways in which we communicate about District news and what’s happening in our schools. At the same time, we want to thank our PTAs (including our six school building PTAs, SEPTA and PTA Council) for their work in communicating at the school level, as well as LMC-TV for broadcasting our School Board meetings and our many outstanding community partners -- such as the Mamaroneck Schools Foundation and the STEM Alliance of Larchmont-Mamaroneck -- which communicate through newsletters, e-mail announcements and Facebook.

• Just launched: Mamaroneck Public Schools Instagram – Search for/follow us @mamaroneck_public_schools.Instagram is a fun and easy way to share photos from our schools and classrooms.

AUTOMATED PHONE CALLS
We try to limit automated phone calls (placed through the District’s automated calling system, One Call Now) to emergencies/weather-related closures only.

TEXT MESSAGES
Opt-In to Receive Text Messages: If you are not currently receiving texts from the District, but would like to receive them, please opt-in by texting the word ALERT to 22300. You will receive District text messages as long as we have the phone number you’re texting from in our system.

Additionally, each school has its own newsletter, and several of the schools recently launched Facebook pages. Teachers too communicate to parents regularly on a wide range of topics at the classroom level.

We hope you’ll stay on top of school happenings and keep in touch when there is something you want to learn more about. As always, we appreciate your interest and involvement in the life of our schools and believe the two-way partnership we share with each of you is what makes this community a particularly extraordinary one.
