Mamaroneck Schools To Close Buildings Earlier, On Weekends
The action is in response to the growing number of cases of new coronavirus.

MAMARONECK, NY — As a response to the cases of new coronavirus being diagnosed in Westchester County, Mamaroneck school officials announcedmy that school facilities will close at 6:30 p.m. weekdays and be closed on weekends until further notice. The district is seeking to "minimize exposure associated with large group gatherings and continue our heightened level of cleaning measures to keep our school facilities as sanitized and germ-free as possible."
The district sent the information out Thursday in an email announcement.
Officials said this was a precautionary measure that will be in effect until further notice. It will be evaluated weekly.

The Hommocks pool will remain open during this period unless there is a notification from the Town of Mamaroneck Recreation Department.
School officials also said it was important for parents to remind their children of the importance of regular hand washing and covering their mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing — not their hands.
