Mamaroneck Smoked Fish Shop Being Sued By Feds Over Listeria

The shop was once featured on Oprah's "Favorite Things" list.

MAMARONECK, NY — A smoked fish shop in Mamaroneck is being sued by federal prosecutors for failing to comply with government health standards and testing positive multiple times for listeria. The lawsuit against Smokehouse of New York, which was once featured on Oprah’s “Favorite Things” list and is located at 434 Waverly Ave. in the village, doesn’t claim anyone was sold or got sick from tainted fish.

The shop’s operations director said the listeria was only found on floors, not in any finished products, the Journal News reported.
