Mam'k Police Blotter: Jewelry, Money Mysteriously Disappear

An 11-year-old boy also sees a 37-year-old man take his bike away.

The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the following incidents last week:

Burglary

- On Feb. 18, a Madison Street resident reported that, upon returning home, she noticed her jewelry box was missing. There were no signs of forced entry, police said.

- On Feb. 21, at approximately 8 p.m., Center Avenue residents reported that, upon returning home, they noticed the door to their apartment, which had been left locked, was ajar. From the outside, they could see things had been disturbed, police said. Upon further inspection, they found that jewelry was missing. 

Criminal Mischief

- On Feb. 18, a woman reported that one side of her vehicle, which she had parked at the Equinox parking lot on Boston Post Road, had been keyed and the windshield cracked. She had left her vehicle at the lot from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. 

- In the morning of Feb. 21, a vehicle parked on the 900 block of Palmer Avenue was keyed, the complainant told police. 

Larceny

- Petit Larceny: On Feb. 15, at approximately 2:45 p.m., a New Street resident reported that, upon returning from a one-week trip, $400 had gone missing from his apartment.

- On Feb. 17, at approximately 10 a.m., a worker on Fayette Avenue reported that a few jack hammers he had left unattended for 20 minutes were stolen. 

- On Feb. 20, at approximately 12 p.m., it was reported that a bicycle belonging to an 11-year-old boy had been stolen from outside a home on Mamaroneck Avenue. The boy had put his bicycle down and had seen the suspect take it, police said. Officers canvassed the area for the suspect and eventually arrested him. The 37-year-old male was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. He is being held for arraignment and is expected to return to court on Thursday.

- 2 Driving While Intoxicated arrests

- 2 cases of identity theft

- 2 cases of intoxicated individuals requiring medical attention 

- 3 vehicle and transit law arrests

- 3 hit and run incidents

- 7 vehicle impounds

- 12 motor vehicle accidents

 

The Town of Mamaroneck Police Department investigated the following incidents last week:

Petit Larceny

On Feb. 16, at approximately 3 p.m., a men's bicycle valued at $650 was stolen from a home's garage/shed on Well House Lane. 

Grand Larceny 4th Degree

On Feb. 16, at approximately 13:45 p.m., a tool bag and assorted tools were stolen from a car parked at the Hommocks Ice Rink parking lot, the victim told police. The tools were valued at $1,000 and the bag at $100. 

Theft of Services

On Feb. 19, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a taxi driver from White Plains told police that a passenger he had picked up in White Plains and driven to Locust Terrace in the Town of Mamaroneck had fled without paying for the $45 fare. 

In addition, police reported

- 1 hit and run incident 

- 4 motor vehicle accidents
