Hit-and-Run Truck Killed Man Changing Tire; Multi-State Manhunt Underway

A multi-state manhunt is underway in New York and New Jersey as police search for a hit-and-run trucker.

MAMARONECK, NY —A multi-state search is underway as police are looking for a hit-and-run tractor-trailer after a man changing a tire on I-95 was killed early Monday.

New York State Police and New Jersey State Police say they're on the lookout for the trucker after the incident took place at about 12:42 a.m. in Westchester County, New York.

At that time, New York state troopers and investigators were dispatched to investigate the fatal hit-and-run auto accident, which occurred on Interstate 95 at Exit 18B (Mamaroneck Avenue).

The victim, 20-year-old Maicol Encarnacion Garcia, of Richmond Hill, New York, was outside a Tan VW Tiguan changing a tire when he was struck by a tractor trailer that left the scene.

No specific information was revealed about the truck, other than the fact it was towing two trailers.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Hawthorne, New York, at 914-769-2600. People can also call the New Jersey State Police at 609-882-2000. All calls can be kept confidential.
