Meet Photographer and Filmmaker, Grannell Knox, Saturday, July 11

Meet photographer and filmmaker, Grannell Knox, and celebrate the opening of his new exhibit of photography in the Oresman Gallery

Meet photographer and filmmaker, Grannell Knox, and celebrate the opening of his new exhibit of photography in the Oresman Gallery at the Larchmont Public Library on Saturday, July 11. The reception is from 2:30 to 4:00pm. The exhibit, “Morocco to Turkey: A Photographic Journey” which officially opened on July 2, is available for viewing during normal library hours throughout July and August. The exhibit and reception are free and everyone is invited.

Grannell Knox is a filmmaker and photographer from Mamaroneck, New York. His passion for film and video began with home movies and this interest eventually matured into Knox making his own narrative short films. He began taking 35mm photographs as he studied the technical side of filmmaking at New York University. Knox saw photography - the single still frame - as the foundation of motion film. There is always a sense of movement in the photographs, whether it be motion blur in a single frame or a series of photographs that span a physical distance. Knox is an active experimental filmmaker, photographer, and traveler.

The images in the exhibit “Morocco to Turkey: A Photographic Journey” were taken during 2014. They depict the people and places Knox encountered while traveling in the two countries. Images range from urban to rural and from touristic to native. All the photographs were taken on 35mm film and developed abroad.
