The Town of Mamaroneck announced that six local municipalities entered into a joint agreement for road resurfacing in 2013 resulting in $64,000 in savings for the Town of Mamaroneck, according to a release from the town supervisor's office. The City of New Rochelle is acting as the lead agency with the Villages of Pelham, Pelham Manor, Mamaroneck, Larchmont and the Town of Mamaroneck participating.
The Town of Mamaroneck anticipated lower than expected pricing for road resurfacing and other related work due to the nature of the larger bid and will spend a total of $565,000. That, according to the release breaks down to $382,000 for paving and $120,000 for new sidewalks and curbs on four streets.
The savings of $64,000 will be used to resurface side roads off of Myrtle Blvd., and, according to the release the initiative is "a wonderful example of inter-municipal cooperation for the benefit of saving money."
