New Bank Branch Slated for Prominent Larchmont Corner
A new Chase bank branch on 124 Chatsworth Ave. will cater exclusively to private clients.
Last November, Chase completed a new glass and brick branch at 125 Chatsworth Ave. and, when the bank puts the finishing touches on another branch at 124 Chatsworth Ave. later this year, caddy-corner from the new branch, the company will have a very visible presence at the intersection of Palmer and Chatsworth Avenues.
Plastic sheeting covers the windows of the branch at 124 Chatsworth Ave., which will house the offices of Chase Private Client branch, “created as a recognition and response to the evolving needs of our affluent Chase customers,” said Chase spokeswoman Lauren M. Francis.
The 2000 merger between JP Morgan and Chase led the bank to increase its services to affluent customers and in July, the bank opened Private Client branches in Greenwich, Connecticut and in Manhattan.

The building, which formerly housed the Chase branch that moved across the street last year, has been a bank since its construction in the 1920’s. In her book, Larchmont Then and Now, A Photo History (with Anne Marie Leone), Judith Doolin Spikes, former Village of Larchmont Historian and a founder of the Larchmont Historical Society, wrote that the “elaborately detailed bank building, designed to complement the 1920s-era Mediterranean-style building boom near the railroad station,” was “built for the Trust Company of Larchmont, later known as County Trust.”
A current photo display curated by the Larchmont Historical Society in an empty storefront on Palmer Avenue shows a depiction of the building in the 1940s.
