New Sanitation Building in Town of Mamaroneck Replaces Trailers
A new building for the joint Town of Mamaroneck-Village of Larchmont sanitation department is now completed.
After 12 years in trailers, the Town of Mamaroneck-Village of Larchmont Sanitation Department’s 22 employees are now housed in a 3,200 square foot building behind the Maxwell Avenue facility.
The building—which was completed in December of 2011—cost $900K including construction hard and soft costs, said Town of Mamaroneck Administrator Steve Altieri. It is owned by the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Joint Garbage Disposal Commission, a joint agency of the town and Village of Larchmont.
In addition to the increased space, some of the features of the new building include a locker room, bathrooms, office, lunch/training room and a small kitchen, with the bottom level being utilized for storage. Additionally, said Altieri, the building has been wired for computers, two-way radio systems and a new weigh scale to come.
