NY-16 Congressional District Primary Unofficial Results Are In

Jamaal Bowman is the projected winner in the Democratic primary for New York's 16th Congressional District. ​

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — The polls have closed and a winner has been projected and the unofficial results are in for the primary contest for New York's 16th Congressional District.

AP, NBC News and ABC News have declared Jamaal Bowman the projected winner of the NY-16 race.

As Democrats look to expand slim majorities in both houses of Congress in November, candidates in the Hudson Valley fought for their political lives and the chance to carry the party's flag in the NY-16 general election.

Though Westchester County Jamal Bowman was widely considered the incumbent in this race, redrawn boundaries and the loss of a New York House of Representatives seat following the 2020 census, however, effectively took away much of Bowman's advantage as an incumbent.

  • Jamaal Bowman (Yonkers) is the incumbent.
  • Vedat Gashi (Yorktown) is a Westchester County Legislator.
  • Catherine F. Parker (Rye) is a Westchester County Legislator.


Bowman will now go on to face Republican Dr. Miriam Levitt Flisser in the general election on Nov. 8.
