Oil Prices Rise, Gas Still Relatively Stable

The price of gasoline has been going up lately, and it probably won’t reverse itself as we get closer to Memorial Day.

Worries about global supply outages saw oil prices hit a six-month high Monday, according to reuters.com.

Brent crude futures were up 2.4 percent while U.S. crude’s West Texas Intermediate futures rose 3.3 percent, reuters said.

AAA said the national price for a gallon of gas went up to $2.22 from $2.21 last week, according to the Daily Messenger.

The average price of gas in New York State remained unchanged at $2.38 from last week.

The good news is that a year ago the national average cost of a gallon of gas was $2.70, the Daily Messenger said.
