LARCHMONT, NY — The former home of the Pier 1 Imports on Boston Post Road in Larchmont won't remain vacant for very long, with an entirely new sort of business moving in.

Royal Properties, Inc., has announced that the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital System signed a long-term lease for the 6,500-square-foot building at 1329 Boston Post Rd.

The location is a former Pier 1 Imports, on a 0.5 acre corner lot with frontage on both Boston Post Road (Rte.1) and on Hommocks Road. The NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital system hasn't yet announced their plans for the property, but it is believed that the location will be used for medical offices.

“There was a huge amount of interest in the property and the landlord chose the absolute best fit,” Royal Properties spokesperson Karnit Mosberg said in a statement announcing the deal.

The prime location on Rte. 1 has been empty since Pier 1 vacated the space last year after announcing a bankruptcy and a move to an entirely online business model. The company walked away from brick-and-mortar outlets and closed all 540 of its stores in North America.
