Renowned Director Ang Lee to Speak in Mamaroneck in January

Lee has won Academy Awards for some of his work, which includes "Brokeback Mountain, "Life of Pi" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

Ang Lee, the Academy-Award winning director of “Brokeback Mountain” and “Life of Pi,” will speak in Mamaroneck on Thursday, January 7, 2016, as part of The Center for Continuing Education’s “Notable Neighbors” series.

Lee, a native of Taiwan, is a long-time resident of Mamaroneck. The discussion is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at McClain Auditorium at Mamaroneck High Schoool, 1000 West Boston Post Road. Tickets are $40. Students are admitted free.

Michael DiGennaro, the Independent Film Series instructor for The Center, will moderate the evening which will include film clips and a discussion of Lee’s notable body of work, including “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon;” The Ice Storm’;” Sense and Sensibility;” and “The Hulk,” among others. His films have ranged from an exploration of the conflict between tradition and modernity to sexual taboos and comic books. Lee is currently in post-production on his latest film, “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk,” a wartime saga which is scheduled for release in November 2016.

“Our goal at The Center is to bring the community together around a wide range of learning opportunities,” said Executive Director Blythe Hamer in a statement. “Our Notable Neighbors series, which began last year with former Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, features some of our extraordinary local residents providing an inside look at their lives and experiences. We are thrilled to have Ang Lee, one of today’s greatest contemporary film directors, share his creative process and insights with us.”
