Republican Candidates For Mamaroneck Village Board Elections Announced

Three Republican candidates will be running for three open seats on the Village of Mamaroneck Board of Trustees this November; the seats will be vacated by Democrats and and Independent , whose terms are ending. One candidate will also be running for an open Village Justice seat.

The Democratic candidates for November's election have not yet been announced, said Village Democratic Party member and former chair Randi Robinowitz. 

According to a release sent out by the Village Republican Committee, the four candidates were selected from a pool of six candidates.

"All potential candidates displayed strong qualifications for the positions for trustee and judge and we believe the chosen slate best represents qualities for the continued success the village has experienced under our current Mayor Norm Rosenblum & Deputy Mayor Lou Santoro," said Maggie O'Neill, chair of the interview committee.

Bios of the four candidates are as follows:

Jennifer E. Bienstock-Cohen, candidate for village justice, is an attorney admitted to practice under the New York State Bar and her admissions include the U.S. Eastern and Southern District. She has also been admitted to the United States Supreme Court. She has expertise as a strong litigation attorney as well as experience in all phases of appellate actions. Bienstock-Cohen's expertise extends to Pro Bono and volunteer work which illustrates her dedication and community involvement as a court-appointed special advocate for children in foster care. She is also involved in the Principal’s Advisory Committee in the Rye Neck School System and a current member of the Village of Mamaroneck Recreation & Parks Commission.

George Belsito, trustee candidate and a retired employee of the , has strong experience in civil engineering and distribution operations, including public contracting law, competitive public bidding, environmental problems & controls, sanitary sewer design and stormwater management. His 18 years of management and supervision in various positions offers great strength on the Board of Trustees.

Dennis P. Cucinella, trustee candidate, is a lifelong resident of the Village of Mamaroneck and brings a strong governmental, business and family background to the position of trustee for the Village of Mamaroneck. He is the current code enforcement officer/inspector for the Village of Scarsdale, New York. He has a strong understanding of the governmental process with particular emphasis on village government. Cucinella also brings a strong sense of family and involvement as a lifelong resident whose family has been in the Village of Mamaroneck since 1895. Further, Cucinella himself has always been active as a member of the , , , Mamaroneck Historical Society and, in service to the Village of Mamaroneck government, as a current member of the Board of Architectural Review and, formerly, the Zoning Board of Appeals.

Michael Sudano, trustee candidate. Sudano is fully aware of the intricacies and benefits of village government from his successful 1997 to 2000 term as a village trustee. Sudano's sense of community and its values are underscored by his career as an educator for over 33 years, including as coordinator of the Apple Program at . Sudano is currently a realtor with and enjoys his membership in the Kiwanis Club, the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Old Timers Club and as an advisor to the Rye Neck Key and Booster Club.

The Village of Mamaroneck Republican Committee will be holding a Meet the Candidates event at Molly Spillane's in Mamaroneck on June 13 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. $50 donation payable at door includes food, beer, wine and soda.
