Rye Neck Students Get Classy at Junior/Senior Prom

Patch heads to the New York Botanical Gardens to give an inside look at the Rye Neck High School junior/senior prom.

After a year of planning and organizing, Rye Neck High School's junior/senior prom was held last night in the Bronx. The celebration took place at Abigail Kirsch in the New York Botanical Garden, a reception hall often used for weddings and banquets.

It is a tradition at Rye Neck High School to have the junior class organize the yearly prom.

"We try to give them as much independence, freedom of choice and selection of just about everything involved," said Pat Rinello, senior class advisor. "They're very responsible for everything they do."

As some of the last limousines started pulling in, rain started coming down. Luckily, the sky cleared out for the rest of the evening. Students enjoyed a cocktail hour in the tent area of the building before heading into the Garden Terrace for the prom.

Patch.com was on hand to see where students bought their outfits, what their after-prom plans were, and how much time it took to get ready - about 30 minutes for most of the boys, they admitted.
