School District Sends Alert on Low-Level Sex Offender

Dear Mamaroneck School District Parents:

The Village of Mamaroneck Police Department informed us today that a person living in the 10543 zip code was convicted in 2003 of Sexual Abuse 1 ^st Degree and that he is registered as a Level-1 sex offender (Level-1 offender – the risk of recidivism is low).  The victim was a 7 year old female who was not known to the offender.  No weapons or force were reported to have been used. 

For your information, sex offenders can be listed from Levels 1 through 3, with Level-1 being the least serious offense. I have notified our school personnel, and since I have the discretion to notify the community, I have decided to notify all parents.
