War Vets Honored and Remembered in Memorial Park
Veterans, town officials, and residents of Larchmont reflect on the importance of Memorial Day.
A memorial service was held at Memorial Park, on the corner of Myrtle Boulevard and Murray Avenue, in Larchmont on Saturday. On a weekend often known for parades and barbecues, the event was held to reflect, have a moment of silence and honor those who died while serving in the U.S. military service.
Among those who spoke during the hour-long ceremony were Larchmont Mayor Josh Mandell, Mamaroneck Supervisor Valerie O'Keeffe, Assemblyman George Latimer, County Legislator Judy Myers, and Congresswoman Nita Lowey. They all reflected on what Memorial Day meant to them and encouraged everyone at the service to keep in our thoughts those currently fighting for our country.
Patch.com was in attendance at Memorial Park to ask veterans, town officials, and residents what Memorial Day means to them.
