Joel Trieger experiments with a wide array of art forms, including sculpture, woodcarving and music. His work in clay leans toward human figuration and a fascination with faces expressed in sculptural variations and claymation. Exceptionally adept when it comes to capturing the wide range of human emotion, his provocative visages caricature celebrity, anonymity and hyperreality with equal vigor. From full-scale narratives in relief to appealing freestanding sculptures, Trieger’s work never fails to elicit a smile.
Joel Trieger was born in Newton, MA and currently lives in Westchester. He has exhibited widely and produced work for television.
