Westchester Winds in Concert

Tuesday, June 9, 3:30 - 5:00 pm Free performance in Larchmont

At Home on the Sound presents: Westchester Winds

Westchester Winds will present a program entitled Musical Postcards from Near and Far, featuring woodwind quartets and quintets from around the world. The concert will include works by Eric Ewazen, Joseph Haydn, Gordon Jacob, Carl Nielsen, and Mátyás Seiber.

The five women who comprise Westchester Winds - Rebecca Sayles, Flute (Mamaroneck); Sylvia Lipnick, Oboe (New Haven); Suzanne Coletta, Clarinet (New City); Amanda Desperito, Horn (Bronxville); and Mary Olsson, Bassoon (New Rochelle) - have known each other for many years as musical friends performing together in various community orchestras and chamber ensembles. In 2014, they began meeting in Westchester on a regular basis to have fun exploring and reading repertoire for combinations of up to five woodwind players, with a goal of sharing their music-making, interspersed with lively commentary, in neighborhood-based concert settings.
