White Plains Man Arrested After Police Chase

Police said the man refused to take a breath test.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — A White Plains man was arrested July 4 after he tried to get away from police during a traffic stop on I-95. State police said they tried to stop Robert A. Robles, 20, of White Plains, for a traffic violation around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday on I-95 in the Town of Mamaroneck.

Police said Robles didn’t stop and tried to get away from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed.

He tried to leave the highway at Exit 18 but lost control and struck a guiderail, rendering his car disabled.

Robles was taken into custody without further incident, police said.

He was found to be in possession of approximately 4 grams of marijuana, according to authorities.

Robles was taken to the Tarrytown barracks and was charged with the following:

  • Second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, a misdemeanor
  • Resisting arrest, a misdemeanor
  • Third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor
  • Unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation
  • Third-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle, a misdemeanor
  • Reckless driving, a misdemeanor
  • Multiple vehicle and traffic violations

Roble refused to take a breath test, police said.

He was arraigned in the Town of Mamaroneck Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail or bond.

No return court date was available.
