It’s expected that men will also want to attend this year to hear Marty Appel, was with the New York Yankees organization from 1968-92 and continues to serve as a consultant. He is the author of Pinstripe Empire, the New York Yankees from Before the Babe to After the Boss which is considered to be the definitive history of the team. Mr. Appel is a former resident of Larchmont where he coached both Little League and soccer.
Camille Rankin, managing editor of Saveur magazine, has combined her lifelong love of poetry with a more recent foray into photography to create Poetry of Flowers. All the poems touch on flowers in some way and are accompanied by almost three-dimensional floral photographs Ms. Rankin has taken at locations including the New York Botanical Gardens, farmer’s markets, and Princeton University.

Appel (no relation to Marty Appel) is a physician, a lawyer, a bioethicist, and a prolific author whose recent work, Phoning Home, is a collection of entertaining and thought provoking essays about his family, his Jewish heritage and growing up in New York City. In addition to inspiring nostalgic feelings, the essays also offer insight into contemporary medical and ethical issues.
