25 To Life For 'Viciously' Stabbing Uncle In 2018: Prosecutors
David Cahoon stabbed the victim 16 times in his Levittown home, the Nassau County DA said.
LEVITTOWN, NY — A man has been sentenced in the stabbing death of his elderly uncle in Levittown five years ago, prosecutors announced.
David Cahoon, 44, was sentenced on Monday to 25 years to life. He was convicted by a jury in June of second-degree murder and fourth-degree grand larceny.
"Concerned staff at the Milleridge Inn restaurant noticed William Cahoon’s absence for several weeks after dining on the same nights for decades, and alerted authorities fearing something had happened to him," said Nassau County DA Anne Donnelly. "Sadly, their concern was confirmed when William’s body was found, viciously stabbed 16 times by his nephew. David Cahoon murdered his uncle and stole from him. With this lengthy prison sentence, he is being held accountable for his violence."

On Jan. 4, the body of 70-year-old William Cahoon was found by police in a back bedroom of his Levittown home, Donnelly said. Officers responded to the home following a wellness check by staff at the Milleridge Inn, which he frequented on Friday and Saturday nights for a quarter-century.
An investigation determined that the victim was on Dec. 3, 2018 by his nephew, David Cahoon, of Dix Hills, who was arrested on June 19, 2019, Donnelly said.
