Freeport, Plainedge Baseball Cap Off Undefeated Regular Season
Wrapping up a three-game sweep of Herricks Wednesday, Freeport Baseball didn’t just put three straight wins in the books: The Red Devils put the finishing touches on a dominant regular season that saw them win 19 of 19 in Class AAA play. While the playoff picture is still coming together, Freeport looks to be an early favorite in a field that’ll feature a 15-2-1 Massapequa team and streaky sides from Farmingdale and Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK.
Meanwhile, not to be outdone, Plainedge wrapped up a 20-0 season of its own this week, beating Valley Stream North 5-1 on Monday and 9-3 on Tuesday. Plainedge has punched its ticket to the playoffs, with Class A competition beginning Saturday.

Wheatley won a 2-1 pitchers’ duel, while Farmingdale put 10 runs on Syosset to take the W. Quarterfinal round games will continue through Saturday with action across classes A, AA and AAA.
