Levittown School Budget Passes By 1,156-To-610-Vote Margin

Levittown Public Schools released the results of the school board and budget election that took place Tuesday.

LEVITTOWN, NY — Results are in for the Levittown school board and school budget election that took place today, and district officials say incumbents Jennifer Messina and Phyllis Dalton — along with newcomer Daniel Larkin — have won school board seats. The district's $284 million budget also passed Tuesday, as did a capital reserve fund expenditure.

The budget passed with 1,156 "yes" votes and 610 "no" votes. In the school board election, Messina led the vote-getters with 1,137 votes, followed by Dalton with 1,087 and Larkin with 1,070. The capital reserve fund expenditure received 1,231 "yes" votes to 453 "no" votes.

The $284,420,293 budget is a 3.67 percent increase over the budget for the current school year. The proposed tax levy increase is 1.98 percent, within the allowable state tax cap meaning the budget can pass by simple 50-percent-or-more majority. The maximum allowable increase was 2.56 percent, per district documents.
