Levittown Argument Ends In Stabbing, Copiague Man Faces Assault Charge, Police Say

A Copiague man is facing assault and weapons charges after a verbal argument escalated Thursday, police say.

LEVITTOWN, NY — A Copiague man is facing criminal charges Friday after a verbal argument in Levittown escalated and ended with the man stabbing a 28-year-old in his home, police said.

Nassau County police said 41-year-old David McCarthy was involved in the verbal exchange, eventually stabbing the 28-year-old man in the leg, causing what police called a “severe laceration.”

Police did not identify the 28-year-old man Friday, and did not say what the verbal argument may have been over.

In the aftermath of the incident, the 28-year-old was hospitalized while the 41-year-old McCarthy was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
