The ELIJA School Autism Awareness Week

The ELIJA School will host its second annual Autism Awareness Week. This is a five day campaign to improve school resources, unite the Long Island Autism community and raise awareness of the ELIJA School's ongoing efforts: Championing Hope, One Child at a Time

How You Can Get Involved:

Volunteer

Everyone is welcome. We need gardeners, organizers, cleaners, handy-persons, material distributors, task managers and good old-fashioned muscle. We also need licensed plumbers, electricians and contractors.

Donate Your Contacts

If you know someone who has materials or expertise, let's get them involved too! Help us rally their support or give us their information and we will reach out to them on your behalf.

Get The Word Out

This is a community effort and we need Long Island's support: Boy/Girl Scout troops, high school students and teachers, corporate volunteers, church and temple groups, etc. Please help us spread the word!

Events:

MONDAY, APRIL 4 – DAY OF SETUP/UPGRADE

We will be setting up for the week and preparing for the entranceway and garden renovations.

Materials needed: Snacks (chips, pretzels, cookies, etc.), Beverages (soda, water, coffee), Garbage bags, Cleaning Supplies (cleaners, paper towels, gloves, etc.)

TUESDAY, APRIL 5 – DAY OF DONATIONS/UPGRADE

We will be accepting donations both big and small from our wish list and continuing our preparation for the entranceway and garden renovations.

Materials needed: Cleaning Supplies (cleaners, paper towels, gloves etc.), Decorators, Muscle to help move boxes and furniture, Snacks (chips, pretzels, cookies, etc.), Beverages (soda, water, coffee).

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6 – DAY OF GARDENING

We will be updating our garden and planting flowers.

Materials needed: Snacks (chips, pretzels, cookies, etc.), Beverages (soda, water, coffee), Fertilizer, Dirt, Shovels, Spades, Gardening Gloves, Watering Cans, and Tool Kits (screwdrivers, hammers, nails, etc).

THURSDAY, APRIL 7 – DAY OF CLEANING AND ORGANIZING

We will be organizing our classrooms and offices.

Materials needed: Storage Bins, Cleaning Supplies (cleaners, paper towels, gloves etc.), Snacks (chips, pretzels, cookies, etc.), Beverages (soda, water, coffee).

FRIDAY, APRIL 8 – DAY OF CELEBRATION

BBQ and Fun!

Materials needed: Party People! Small BBQ Grills, Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Buns, Veggie Burgers, BBQ Supplies, Photographers, Children’s Activities
