Census: Asian and Hispanic Populations Rise in Levittown

Levittown's population has decreased since 2000, but some groups have moved into town in large numbers.

While the population of both the United States and New York State grew over the past decade, Levittown's population decreased by just over 2.2 percent, according to a recent report by the United States Census Bureau.

Levittown's population now stands at 51,881 compared to 53,067 in 2000.

The United States's population increased by 9.7 percent, growing from 281.4 million people in 2000 to 308.7 million in 2010. The population of New York State rose from 18.9 million to 19.3 million, an increase of 2 percent.

Though Levittown's population as a whole decreased, some groups have moved into town in large numbers. Levittown's Asian community has grown in the past ten years by a whopping 95.6 percent, and the Hispanic population has increased by 66 percent.

There are now 1,445 more Asians living in Levittown than there were in the past decade and 2,378 more Hispanics.
