Levittown resident Matthew Weinick has partnered with friend and colleague Peter J. Famighetti to open a new law firm, Famighetti & Weinick, PLLC. Concentrating in the areas of civil rights and employment law, Weinick says the firm’s goal is to provide “accessible and quality” legal services. “Too often, people who need access to lawyers the most, can’t afford them. As civil rights lawyers, we believe that everyone should have access to quality legal services,” explained Weinick.
“Equally important is that lawyers be available to their clients when needed. We’re using new technology, such as skype and advanced telephone calling software, to reduce overhead and keep us connected to our clients,” says Famighetti.
Famighetti reports that Weinick and he met while working together in government. “We didn’t have many resources so we learned to be lawyers without expensive equipment and teams of support staff.” The two partners noted that they believe their experience in government built character in them. Famighetti added, “Partners in large private firms have legions of associates researching and writing. We did everything ourselves, but we learned so much that way.”

Based out of Melville, Long Island, Famighetti and Weinick say their location is convenient because it is on the Nassau-Suffolk border. Weinick noted, “We’re just off the LIE on the South Service Road, so our office is physically accessible, as well.”
Weinick says he will be spending much of his time working on building the new business, but that in his downtime, he intends to remain active volunteering in Levittown. “I’m a volunteer firefighter and EMT-Critical Care with the fire department. It’s something I love to do, so I’m sure I’ll find the time to actively participate with the department.”
